There's no one in the band named "Mitch." Just three lifelong friends (Lou, McD, and Jer) who have been crafting tunes together since our teenage years.
To say our music is eclectic is an understatement. We have an incredibly broad list of influences and so many different lyrical topics we cover.
Beethoven supposedly once said something like, "Telling someone about music with words is like trying to make love through postal mail." So, we'll heed good old Ludwig's advice and say that the only way to grasp what we're about is to check out some of our songs and decide for yourself.

Our journey began in two different towns in Missouri, with Lou and McD strumming guitars and banging on trash-can drums in a garage in Auxvasse, and Jer penning songs solo in the bustling streets of St. Louis. Destiny took its course at college, where a chance encounter over a shared piano chord progression in a practice room turned us into inseparable musical partners.
You might wonder why Mitch the Needle isn't a household name, given our four decades of friendship and songwriting. Our answer echoes John Lennon's wise words: "Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans." Despite early rejections from record labels, unwilling to confine our music to a single genre, we never stopped creating. Life's usual suspects—marriage, kids, careers—took center stage, but our passion for music never dimmed.
Fast forward to recent years: Technology finally caught up with our ambitions, enabling us to record and produce exactly the sound we envisioned. Since then, we’ve shared over sixty songs blending indie pop and modern rock with echoes of the '70s and '80s, all available on Spotify, YouTube, and more.
Our songs are indie pop and modern rock with hints of 70s and 80s influences. But we often color outside the lines of those genres, creating whatever style of music inspires us on any particular day.
One of our fans said, "You guys are the musical version of Forrest Gump's box of chocolates... you never know what you're going to get." We liked that compliment!
In fact, we coined the term "Neo Migma" (meaning "new mixture") as the genre for our music, to indicate that we want to bring back the days when bands like Queen and the Beatles included many styles of songs on one album. It kept their music exciting, fun, and never boring. We want to give our fans that same experience.
Of course, doing such a wide variety means that not every song connects with every listener. Still, we feel confident that anyone who skims a dozen of our songs will find several they want to add to their playlist of favorites.
